I have long advocated that education is an equalizer in providing invaluable opportunities for people to grow and succeed, an idea instilled in me by my parents who improved their lives through the pursuit of advanced degrees, showing the opportunity for higher education to provide opportunities for advancement.
I believe that all students have the innate potential to succeed, and I just want to provide them with the support and accommodations they need based on their individual backgrounds.
Through a variety of experiences, I have learned the importance of individualized instruction, tailoring my mentoring and teaching to the specific needs of the student with whom I am working.
Research Mentor
Undergraduate Research Apprenticeship Program,
University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign
September 2021 - May 2024
One of my most rewarding experiences has been volunteering for URAP, providing research mentorship opportunities to undergraduate students with no prior experience, often from underrepresented backgrounds.
I introduced them to the research process and trained them in skills such as content analysis and R programming.
Below are the posters they presented at their university’s Undergraduate Research Symposium.
